2025 Green Week and Tree Day
Two weeks ago, Kambrya celebrated its first Green Week! Green Week celebrates biodiversity at school and culminates in a Tree Planting Day on Friday 25th July. Students got involved in making recycled seed paper with old library books, creating bookmarks, and participating in a pot plant workshop.
At the end of the week, our Year 9 Programs took charge of the planting on Tree Day. Read about their experiences below:
“
"On Friday the 25th of July the GIRLS and Darrabi programs went to the back of the oval for Green Week to plant trees to help the ecosystem and make a privacy screen for that part of the school. We planted around 60 trees while working together as a group. By planting these trees, it gives homes to animals and keeps our ecosystem thriving. We worked well as a group: When planting the plants, one of us dug a hole while the other took the plant out of the pot, and another watered it. Other activities that were ran for Green Week were the short film and a pot plant workshop. This week has helped our ecosystem thrive better and we cannot wait to see the trees grow wonderfully.”
“On the 25th of July, the GIRLs and Darrabi came together to plant 60 trees and plants to contribute to Green Week. We worked as one team to achieve our goal to plant different species, like our native trees. This is also called biodiversity: It’s when we plant a lot of different plants in one area. If you take a good look around Kambrya, you can see that most trees look the same, maybe because they are plants that suit our soil. We, as a school, are a very diverse community just like the trees we planted. We had a lot to celebrate this week. We did activities like a short film, pot plant workshops, and more! Come with us on a journey as we help our trees grow together with our time here at Kambrya".

“Today, Darrabi combined with the GIRLs program and two student leaders from the Sustainability Committee. We planted around 60 trees that were a variety of species and were all native to Australia. We planted the trees for a more animal friendly environment and to add more greenery to the school. With the help of team work, we got it done faster and got a heap of photos to go with it".
