Annie - The Musical!

Congratulations to Grace McConnell in 5/6A, who has been successful in her audition and secured a role in the musical 'Annie'. Yes! The big stage show with Anthony Warlow, playing at the Princess Theatre!

Grace is playing the part of July, one of the main orphans at the orphanage. We hope that members of our Wembley community manage to see her in action on the big stage!

SSV State Cross Country Athletics

Milana represented Wembley PS at the SSV State Cross Country Championships yesterday out at Yarra Glen race course.

She ran an incredible race and came 5th! Milana is now off to represent Victoria at the National Championships on the Gold Coast in September!

On the 21st of June I competed in the State All Schools Cross Country Championships.

It was a cold icy Saturday morning and the wind was blowing in all different directions. It was hard to keep my legs warm because if they weren't warm then I would cool down and my muscles wouldn’t be ready for the race. There was a long stressful wait at the start line as we were marshalling there for at least 15 to 20 minutes. The reason why you have to be on the start line early, is because you need to get in the first row or you will lower your chances at getting a good start and making the top 10.

It was a tough race and there were so many people all crowded together who all came for the same victory. The start of the race was hard and you had to get out fast or you would be left behind and jammed in between everyone.

During the race there were lots of hills and it was hard to get over them without slowing down your pace especially when you have to do that for 3km. A lot of the girls that were in my race were all training for this specific race and all of them wanted to make the top 10, to then be selected for the State team and go onto Nationals and compete against other girls from all over Australia.

At the end of the race I felt like I did the best that I ever could and I pushed myself to the limit. I was lucky enough to make it through the top 10 and be selected to represent Victoria! Off to Nationals I go!

Netball Fever!

Over the Term 2 holidays a number of our netball teams were exceptionally busy - with three teams participating in a series of finals.

Congratulations to our incredible Under 13 Wembley netball team - the Wembley Wildflowers,  who were crowned Grand Final winners on Saturday 28 June at Altona! The team had a phenomenal season and capped it off with an exciting Grand Final win. 🌸

A big shoutout to our players: Marlo Mielczarek, Ava McDonald, Florin Ussher, Annabelle Dwyer, Charlie Henry, Isabella Alphin, Hazel Dowell-Silva, Josie Flack (all Year 6), and Jessie Manu (Year 5).

Well done to the Wembley Wasps who played a tough grand final, sadly, they didn't win but should be proud of their efforts on the court and the success they found throughout the season: 🐝

The Wembley Waffles also played in a netball grand final and WON! The Wembley Waffles are a team of students from Year 4 and Year 5: Archer, Hazel A, Hazel M, Luna, Zara, Georgia, Chloe, Billie, Lucas, Bella, Hazel M. Well done everyone! 🧇

What an amazing effort and display of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship from the players on all three teams. We are so proud of you all! Go Wembley!
