News and Information from Primary
One of the important rhythms of our Primary school is Weekly Worship Wednesday—a special time where our entire Primary community gathers together.
Led by our enthusiastic Year 5/6 students, Worship Wednesday brings together every child from Kindergarten through to Year 6. Each week, students join as one to sing three worship songs, engaging not only with their voices but also through actions that create a joyful and inclusive atmosphere across the school.
This weekly gathering is more than just a time of singing. It is a vibrant community moment, regularly supported by a wonderful turnout of parents, family members, and friends, whose presence enriches the experience and strengthens our shared sense of belonging.
Our Primary students wholeheartedly lead this, with Year 5 students introducing what we will be doing as a community and then finishing with prayer.
Worship Wednesday is a meaningful expression of who we are as a school. It nurtures student leadership, fosters community connection, and centres our week on faith right in the heart of the week.

Students from Year 3 to Year 6 represented our school at the NWPSSA Inter Primary Cross Country held at the Ulverstone Football Ground, joining schools from across the North-West. Across a range of events from 1500m to 2500m, students competed with determination and supported one another well, reflecting our school values through both effort and encouragement. It was wonderful to hear how each student went on the day, with many sharing personal highlights, and we are proud of the way every runner challenged themselves and contributed to the strong spirit of the event.
This year marked an exciting new addition to the NWPSSA Cross Country event, with the introduction of a Teams Event. Alongside individual placegetters receiving ribbons, schools were also able to compete as a team in each division. Teams were automatically entered if they had enough runners, and results were calculated by adding together each runner’s finishing place—the lowest combined score determining the winners.
We were thrilled to see this new format in action and even more excited by our fantastic results! Our Year 3 girls achieved an outstanding 1st place, and our Year 4 girls placed a brilliant 3rd in the Teams Event.
This format highlights the importance of every runner’s effort, as each finishing position contributes to the team’s overall score. It was wonderful to see such strong teamwork, determination, and school spirit from all of our runners. Well done to everyone involved!

This year's theme is... ‘WHOLEHEARTED’
What type of art... Picture or 3D?

The Rules:

We warmly invite you to join us for our DCS Primary Arts Afternoon on Wednesday 24th June, held in Jiloa, commencing at 3:15pm.
Our students have been busily preparing for this special event, with beautiful artwork now ready to be proudly displayed. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their creativity and hard work.
Throughout the afternoon, you will also enjoy a range of live performances. Selected students from Year 3 to Year 6 will be showcasing their talents through solo and small group musical items. In addition, all students in Years 3–6 have been working together on a large choir performance, which promises to be a highlight of the event.
We would love for you to come and support your children as they share and celebrate the gifts that God has blessed them with.
We look forward to seeing you there!

How many books can your child read in 10 weeks?
We are excited to invite our students to take part in this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC).
The PRC is open to all students from Kinder to Year 6 and runs from Monday 22nd June to Sunday 30th August, and is a wonderful opportunity to encourage a love of reading.
What can your child read?
Students are free to choose what they enjoy reading for the Challenge, such as fiction, non-fiction, blogs, comics, poetry, lyrics, essays, magazines, newspapers…it all counts in the PRC. It doesn’t matter what their reading level is, everyone can take part.
How does it work?
Each student will receive a log book to record what they read as part of the challenge. Every student who completes and returns their log book will receive a signed certificate from the Premier of Tasmania.
Log books have been sent home with students, and extras are available from the Central Office, or can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
All completed log books are due to the Central Office by Friday 4th September.
