Assistant Principal Update

Another Term of Learning and Growth
Well done to all of our student community on the efforts they have put into achieving thier personal best over the course of a busy school term. Our school values have been on full display with many students being individually recognized by staff for actions that promoted the values that are most important here at MEPS. Well done to awards winners as well as those that showed our values but were not able to get an award this term. Keep up the great work and I am sure we will "catch you" doing something amazing soon so we can celebrate you in the future.
Wellbeing Curriculum Term 3- Respectful Relationships
An important aspect of our school's proactive and preventative wellbeing program is the active teaching of social/emotional skills. Our delivery of the Respectful Relationships wellbeing curriculum across all year levels promotes consistency of learning and the explicit teaching of key skills and language to ensure an inclusive learning environment for all. Next term, all year levels are further examining the concept of gender norms and stereotypes. Students will consider the influence of gender norms on attitudes, opportunities and behaviour. They will learn about gender equality, inclusion, human rights and the importance of relationships that respect people of all genders. Should you have further questions regarding our wellbeing curriculum, please contact darren.thresher@education.vic.gov.au for further discussion.
Allied Health Onsite Access Changes
As previously communicated, following the school's review of allied health access arrangements, please be aware of Mt. Eliza Primary School's change to onsite allied health services to start term three. All allied health therapies provided to students will need to be conducted external to the school from the start of next term. Please communicate further with your allied health support team to ensure continuation of therapy for your child if they will be impacted.
NAIDOC Week- July 5th-12th
A reminder to our community that during the first week of school holidays, it is NAIDOC Week. This year's theme "50 Years Deadly" celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of NAIDOC Week in acknowledging Indigenous history and culture. We are hopeful that Indigenous members of our school community are able to celebrate and recognize their rich cultural heritage and that other members of our community are able to learn more about some of the cultural diversity that makes Australia, and our school, a welcoming and inclusive place.
School Uniform Reminder
Finally, as the weather cools and winter finds its way to Victoria, we would like to request all families help to assist your child in having and wearing the appropriate school uniform to start term three. Now is the time to order if that jumper has gotten a bit small, a bit worn or perhaps even a bit lost! A reminder that all sporting club clothing or other winter wear is not a substitute for wearing your school uniform with pride. We love that you are up with the latest fashions, but we love our school uniform more. We are excited that you are proud of your sporting club, but we are even prouder of our school. We try to support your footy team (some of you make this harder than others), but it is even more amazing that we support our MEPS learning community and wear our uniform with pride to show we are all part of something special as we represent our school every day.
Have a great, restful and safe holidays. We are looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling face back again refreshed to start an exciting term three.
Kind Regards,
Darren Thresher
