Term 2
We are almost halfway through the school year! This term has been filled with camps, incursions, excursions and some incredible learning experiences.
We would like to say thank you to our parents and wider community for your support and engagement with the school over the past Semester. We want to extend this thank you to all the amazing staff at Brookside College who have put the time and effort in, so that these amazing things can happen.
To our students, thank you for demonstrating our college values and showing up each morning with kindness and a willingness to learn.
As this is the final newsletter of the term we would like to wish our students, staff and their families a safe and enjoyable school holiday break. Enjoy this time reconnecting with each other and preparing for another busy term ahead.
Exams
Year 8 and 9 exams are taking place during week 10 of this term in the areas of English and Mathematics. The exam period will provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding and practise skills that are vital for their later years of schooling.
All results will be provided to students and families early in Term 3.

School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS) Shop
The SWPBS shop will be open on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 June during which time students will have the chance to spend their “Brookside Bucks” (or they may save them for later in the year).
This is a fantastic opportunity for our school to celebrate the consistent, expected behaviour of our students who have been receiving 4R superstar awards throughout the term in recognition for demonstrating our values. We are very proud of you all and we can’t wait to see what you purchase.

Fundraising
This term, the Hands-On Learning Café students baked up a storm in support of the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea Bake Sale. Students from Prep to Year 9 had the opportunity to purchase a range of delicious sweet treats, and we are happy to share that we completely sold out of every item!
The bake sale was a tremendous success and, thanks to the incredible support of our school community, we raised just under $1,500 for this wonderful cause.
All the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by our café staff and students truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of what they achieved and grateful to everyone who contributed to making the event such a success.

Friday 19 June we have a college wide Pyjama Day. Students are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite pyjamas and enjoy a fun-filled day.
A gold coin donation will be collected on the day with all funds raised, going towards supporting our school's SWPBS shop.

Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)
Over the past few weeks students across Years 4-9 have completed the Attitude to School Survey. The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school.
Students have the opportunity to express their thoughts about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. The data from this survey helps us as a school to plan programs and activities to improve student engagement with school, their wellbeing and their learning.
World Cup Soccer at Brookside
It has been fantastic to see our students getting involved with the World Cup. Each class across the school has been allocated a country to follow and support throughout the tournament, and the class whose allocated country wins the World Cup will receive a prize! A big thank you to Mr Mac for organising, World Cup fever has definitely hit Brookside!

Semester Reports
Staff are currently in the process of completing Semester Reports, which will become available to parents on Wednesday 24 June. As communicated via Compass, the reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but descriptive comments may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by members of the Australian Education Union.
Have a great break everyone,
The Executive Team
