Hi all

The Summer Lightning Premierships were played on Friday in glorious late summer weather.  All of the Year 6s and a few lucky year 5s played cricket, volleyball, basketball and kickball at a number of venues against other local schools.  They competed for the Chelsea District premiership and the right to go on to the Kingston Division finals in term 4.  We sent nine teams in total.

We entered two boy's cricket teams and they ended up both making the grand final.  It's like some sort of cricket academy here at St Louis!   Our girls cricket team was made up of one Year 6 and 8 x Year 5s!  That were good enough to make the grand Final but were narrowly beaten by Chelsea Heights.  2025 is looking good.  Thank you very much to Lorissa Belton for taking the girls for the day.  Her positivity and ability to teach skills and strategies on the day was very evident.  They were one very happy runners up!

The girls basketball finished mid field whilst the boys only lost one game to an all-star St Josephs outfit.  The boys kickball and volleyball won their competitions.  The girls volleyball finished first or second with the outcome yet to be decided.  The girls kickball lost narrowly in the grand final.  9 teams - 3 premierships, 4 runner ups and a possible other first place.  Not a bad day at the office.

RUNNING CLUB

53 early risers came to Rick's Thursday morning session.  It was a great turn up and the kids pushed themselves through a series of sprints and slow jogs around the oval.  There were quite a view giggles when Rick tried to explain "Fartlek" running.  One lad couldn't resist cupping his hand under the armpit for a few cranks and it reminded me of a time in the classroom when I introduced the 7th planet of the solar system.

JUNIOR SPORTS DAY

On Wednesday our Preps, Year 1s and Year 2s willl come out onto the oval for a series of games.  There will be athletics events such as sprints, long jumps and baton relays.  They will play cooperative team games that foster trust and have a whole lot of fun doing it.

Please ensure your child wears their sports uniform on the day and bring their water bottle.

Yours in Sport
