Hello Scoresby Community,

My name is Daniel Croft and I am the new Head of Junior School at Scoresby Secondary College.

I joined Scoresby to become a part of a community I had heard so many positive things about. I can say with honesty in these first few months the things I heard don’t live up to the great positivity that Scoresby Secondary College has shown me.

I have been teaching for six years and have taught in many different experiences in that time, from country Victoria out in Sale to the high-rise buildings of Richmond High School. I have had plenty of different experiences in student engagement and best practices for students with a wellbeing requirement. I bring that knowledge to Scoresby in hopes that I can be of benefit to the students here while also pushing them to be their very best and achieve everything they want to achieve.

If you’re looking for me in my spare time my advice would be to head to one of the local basketball stadiums as I am heavily involved at Kilsyth Basketball currently coaching an U16’s team and collecting statistics for the senior sides.

I have a love and passion for basketball that I have already seen blossom with some of the Year 11 students, who are working towards playing in a mixed basketball competition.

We have had three coaching sessions already this year and their love for the game just makes me want to love it even more.

If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail, I’m always happy to chat all things school, sport or theatre.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I’m also a Drama teacher and have a flair for the theatre. That’s probably where I found my love for teaching if I’m being completely honest.

I also teach Psychology and Maths, most of my teaching friends call me a bit of a unicorn because my subjects don’t match but I’ve always said that if I can understand the brain and why people do the things they do and think the way they think, it makes it so much easier for me to portray a different character than myself because I already understand their motivations.

Anyway, that’s enough from me. Hopefully I’ll see you all around.

Cheers

Mr Daniel Croft
