Parent Assistance Required
Once or twice a term we would greatly appreciate help in covering books.
Boxes of books with contact supplied can be made up and covering can be done at home at your discretion. If you can help out with this we would love to hear from you. If you are able to help please email Sharon or drop in and see her in the library before or after school on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Also please keep an eye out next term for details of parent assistance requested for the book fair in term 3.
Model Solar Boat Challenge 2024
We're very happy to announce that NLPS will be participating in the 2024 Model Solar Victoria boat challenge, in the Junior (primary school) category!
The school last participated in 2022, with 6 teams making it through to the semi finals.
This year we’ll be running the program again, in partnership with Model Solar Victoria that organises the competition. This is a great opportunity for children in Year 5 and 6 to develop and use a wide range of science, technology, engineering, art, design, and mathematics (STEAM) abilities.
For 2024, the program has to run on weekends given that shortened lunch hours don’t give us enough time. To maximise time to build and test boats yet cater for family flexibility, there will be 11 sessions on Sundays of 2 hours each (9-11am) across term 2 & term 3 in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) at the school.
The program will be led by two NLPS parents, David Child and Martin Foster who also led the 2022 NLPS model solar boat teams.
There’s no cost for this activity; the school’s parents club and Industry Australia grants are funding the equipment. The only ask is of commitment; after attending the first session children and families choosing to continue must commit to the rest of the sessions.

Sign-up closes on Wednesday 17 April. The first session is Sunday 21st April at 9am.
