ASHBURTON LIBRARY - DECODABLES!

I received a visit from Claire on Tuesday from Ashburton Library. I am thrilled to let you know that the local library is heavily stocked with decodable texts to loan.

There is a whole section titled 'EARLY READERS SECTION' where it is categorised into three sections.

YELLOW - Beginning level of reading (Prep - early Yr 1)

ORANGE - levelled readers and decodable stages available

GREEN - Similar to junior fiction (a bridging section into chapter books)

The library has decodable titles from Little Learners Love Literacy (what our junior classes are learning with in the classroom), Dandilion Launchers, Fitzroy Readers and Decodable Readers Australia.

You can borrow an entire 'kit' of decodable readers which has up to 30 titles for a particular stage. Simply search for 'Early Reader Kit' in their search platform (as these kits are kept behind the desk)

If you are unsure of which 'stage' to ask for, your classroom teacher will be able to help if you are a parent of a Prep-Year 2 child.
