On the evening of 9 March St John’s Regional College joined forces with our fellow Southern Independent Schools for an evening of performance, which was the result of many months of planning and rehearsal.
The sellout performance at the DRUM Theatre Dandenong was a testament to the talent and creativity of the SIS Performing Arts students who took to the stage. Students from 13 campuses took part in a spellbinding show of dance, choir, orchestra and concert band performances, with a diverse range of individual items performed by each school. The talented students of St John’s performed in Whole College Choir, SIS Combined Choir and in the three dance styles of Hip Hop, Contemporary and Jazz/Musical.
MCs from host school St Peter’s College engaged the audience throughout the evening, with SIS President Chris Black offering a vote of thanks and congratulations on behalf of all SIS member schools.
Congratulations to all students involved in a wonderful night’s entertainment and to Ms Perri Espinoza for her support in arranging and conducting the SIS Combined Choir and for all her hard work with the SIS Whole College Choir. I would also like to note my appreciation to Mr Reymond Bolano and Miss Emma Bradley for their fantastic supervision and care for our students at the Drum Theatre. A big thank you goes to Cristhel Gulay for her wonderful poster design that was used by all schools in promoting this huge event. SJRC volunteered for backstage, and I would like to congratulate the eight students who worked seamlessly and professionally to ensure the smooth transitions between the performances. I am very proud of the commitment and demeanour of our students, who practiced and rehearsed to make each performance spine tingling while forming friendships with students across our SIS Region.
