YEAR 11 FOOD STUDIES EXCURSION TO THE LANGHAM HOTEL

On Thursday 12 September, our Year 11 Food Studies class went on an excursion to the Langham Hotel, Melbourne.

The moment we walked in, we were greeted by an elegant, inviting atmosphere and Ricky who worked at the hotel. Ricky started off by talking about the history of the hotel and the various amenities the hotel provides. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting the spa and wellness area. The decor was serene and minimalist, with soft, neutral tones that instantly put me at ease. The spa facilities were top-notch, and I could see why it has a reputation for being one of the best in the city.

We also visited the ball room which can hold up to 300 people for a wedding or a New Year’s Eve party. The buffet spread was impressive, offering a wide variety of dishes that catered to different tastes and preferences. There was an array of fresh seafood, including oysters, prawns, and sushi, which were clearly of high quality and well-prepared. Moving on to the hot dishes, there were several interactive stations including a choose your own pasta station, a naan bread station where you could choose your own fillings, a noodle stir fry station, and you could have steak cooked to order.

Other options ranging from classic comfort foods to more adventurous international selections. I particularly enjoyed the roasted meat. The pork belly was juicy and perfectly cooked. In the dessert section, the pastries were beautifully presented, and the variety was fantastic from classic cakes and tarts to mini panna cotta cups and a massive chocolate fountain, with the options of strawberries and ice cream with a bread-and-butter pudding. Overall, the lunch buffet at The Langham was a delightful experience.

Ricky organized a special birthday cupcake for one of our student’s (Leo Glenane’s) birthday as a surprise. We all left with smiles on our faces and a very full stomach. As we were leaving the hotel Leo handed his birthday cupcake to a homeless man which was really nice of him.
