A Night of Nights!
Last Tuesday I took the opportunity to attend the Year 10 Drama Monologue Performances here at the College. There was an abundance of talent on display as nine young men to took to the stage to showcase their individual performances. Their pieces were both stand alone or excerpts from plays. Their individual pieces give these young men a taste of what a major component of their HSC performance piece will look like in two years.
It was a great night and there was something so special about seeing how creative these young men are on stage. Each of them was able to express their emotions in so many ways. They made us laugh and cry, sometimes in the same piece. There were excerpts from famous pieces including Blackrock and Assassin to individual pieces including Stag Do and Ikea Potato Peeler.
I also bore witness to the camaraderie that exists amongst these young men. Learning a whole monologue in Year 10 is an achievement. However, the support that they gave each other was also amazing. They genuinely built each other up and supported each other for their special moment.
As Ms Duff writes, ‘theatre has the power to move, inspire, transform, and educate in a way that no other form can.’ Our talented performers in Year 10 certainly inspired, transformed, and educated all of us in the audience. Congratulations to all the students who performed on the night and to their teachers Ms Duff and Ms Armanno.
Also, please do not forget that our 2024 Performing Arts Production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is showing at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown on 19, 20, and 22 June. This is a production not to be missed and staff and students are working tirelessly, seven days a week to ensure that it will be a performance not to be missed. Tickets are selling out fast, so make sure you don’t miss out and book at Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (nsw.gov.au). It certainly will be a production for the whole family, so make a night out of it!
