Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3
The Armidale School Rugby Carnival (TASRC)
As we come to the conclusion of a very busy Term 1, the Junior School will be involved in a number of tours to kick off the Winter season. On Tuesday 9 April, we will be sending a squad of football players to St Joseph’s Nudgee College in Brisbane for our annual tilt at the EREA Football Carnival. The boys have been training hard for the past six weeks and we wish them all the best for the upcoming tournament. We have had a very proud tradition of excellence in this carnival, and no doubt the boys will continue this legacy this year. In a similar vein, on Friday 12 April boys from Junior School Rugby will be traveling north to Armidale for the traditional The Armidale School Rugby Carnival (TASRC). The College has had a long and honored tradition at TASRC. Many of the boys in the First XV have cut their teeth on this tour and I know that this year’s squad will be very competitive in their division. We wish all our touring groups all the best and pray for their safe travel.
Winter Sport Trials Update
Winter Sport Trials will continue this weekend, Saturday 6 April. All football groups will trial on the back ovals in a staggered schedule. This will allow for a short, sharp trial period that affords the boys a good opportunity to be seen. The times for the Football Trials are below.
- 1:30 - 2:30 PM - Year 6 Football
- 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM - Year 5 Football
- 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM - 10 years Football
Due to our senior boys’ commitments to the traditional Black and Green Shield fixtures (traditional competition with Trinity Grammar School), there will be no Rugby Trials on Saturday 6 April. Rugby Trials will continue Monday 8 April through to Wednesday 10 April after school, from 3:15 PM to 4:45 PM. Rugby Trials will take place on Breen Oval.
It has been wonderful to hear of the many varied activities the boys have been involved in outside the College this term. If your son has been involved in a high-level sport competition, please let me know. It would be great to share the success of all our boys with the rest of the community.
