Wow! This term has gone by very qickly. I am amazed by how much our Preppies have learnt already. Everyone should be super duper proud of themselves!
Over the past two weeks we have continued our learning in Literacy on the most common sound made by letters of the alphabet, running those sounds together, reading and writing words plus sentences. We specifically learnt about rhyming words, syllables, alliteration and word families such as at, an, am and ap words.
In Numeracy we continued our learning on the numbers to ten, matching the numeral with the same amount and word to match. We also learnt about subitising, recognising how many are in a group without counting and the duration of time, explicitely looking at what takes seconds, minutes and hours to complete. We worked on two dimensional shapes such as squares, circles, triangles and rectangles and we made a three dimensional Easter baskets for Easter Bunny to fill! Yummy!
We enjoyed learning about Harmony Week last week, making hats and showing how we can all work together harmoniously, being kind to people who may be different to us.
It was lovely to catch up with all my Prep families at Parent /Teacher/ Student conferences, celebrating all of our learning and dicussing our future goals. If you were unable to make these interviews, my classroom door is always open to you. Feel free to drop in to make a time that suits you.
A big thank you to Parents and Friends who put on a disco for us. We loved dancing to all of our favourite songs.
I wish all my beautiful Preppies a safe, fun filled Easter holidays and hope Easter Bunny visits you at home or on holidays. Thank you to all my wonderful parents who have come in every day to help with Reading Circles. I really appreciate your assistance and your children are so proud when you are in the classroom.
Happy Holidays everyone!

This term has flown by very quickly! Students have been revising their letter sounds and learning about some digraphs such as the /ff/ and /ph/ letter sounds and identify objects that contain these at the beginning, middle and end of words. Students have also been revising how to retell what happened in the texts they have read.
In Writing, we have continued to focus on our sentence structure when writing narratives. This includes identifying where capital letters and full stops are used. Students have been exposed to adding descriptive language such as alliteration in their writing.
In Maths, students have been continuing to learn about shapes. This includes identifying their features and how they are seen in some 3D shapes. Students have loved sorting objects based on their features.
Harmony Week was a blast this term. Students loved learning about the meaning behind Harmony Day and completing activities such as making hats and identifying what Harmony Day means to them.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped with the disco. Students and staff enjoyed it.

Curriculum
What a busy two weeks we have had in our classroom. I can't believe that Term 1 has come to an end!
Over the last fortnight, we have learnt many new things and revised content learnt throughout the term. In Reading, we have continued to explore comprehension strategies, such as predicting and making connections. We have also continued exploring letter sounds and isolating the sounds that we hear at the beginning, middle and end of words.
In Writing, we have continued to explore narrative writing, with particular focus on creating different types of sentences, such as creating simple and compound sentences and complex sentences for a further challenge.
