Term 1 has been full of fun in the garden and students have loved picking something to try, such as strawberries, blackberries and tomatoes.
Foundation and Year 1/2 students have been learning about the importance of recycling. They discovered what items can be recycled and also found out where their rubbish goes once they put it in a bin.
Students in Year 3/4 have been learning about the 6 gardening techniques, including pruning, grafting, espalier, plant division, plant cuttings and seed collection. They had many opportunities to be hands on whilst learning these skills.
Year 5/6 students have chosen a particular item from our urban farm about which they have become an expert by researching, understanding and then doing what they have learnt in the garden. Many students chose to focus on a particular plant where they learnt everything about it and are now working on their plant to help it thrive.
