Leopard Terrace - New Play Equipment
We are so excited to be watching the transformation of Leopard Terrace playground before our eyes. Dependent on weather, we expect the finish date to be the end of April/early May. Our Student Representative Council have been working on a suitable name for the main piece of equipment in Leopard Terrace. We look forward to revealing it soon.
The Primary Staff have spent some time considering the safety aspects of our new play space. There will be purposeful times ahead of the launch of the playground, where each class will be taken through the rules and shown how to use the equipment safely. After this, there will be staggered play days for year levels which will provide further time for each student to explore and find their personal limitations with the support of staff.
Further information about this will be shared in a separate communication; however I wanted to outline a very important aspect of our new play space. There will be a very strict NO STAFF, NO PLAY agreement, which will mean that the large climbing frame will be out of bounds before and after school. Extra staffing will be in place for Morning Tea and Lunch times when students will be permitted to use the climbing frame.
Circular Drive Etiquette
At the conclusion of the day, staff will bring students down to Circular Drive from 3:05pm (Prep - Year 2) and 3:15pm (Years 3 - 6). Pre-Prep students can be collected from their classroom between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. Students in Years 5 - 6 may be collected at Circular Drive if they have younger siblings. Otherwise, they may be collected from Bayview Terrace. Students in Year 4 may be collected from Bayview Terrace if they have an older sibling.
To assist us with the efficiency of Circular Drive pickup in the afternoon, we respectfully request the following:
- Follow the direction of staff
- Continue to drive forward to the furthest available park
- Remain in your car until your child has been sent to you, with prompt assistance with bags/seatbelts as needed
- If your child has not yet arrived for collection, you must drive around the block to re-enter the Circular Drive queue.
School Uniform
All students will be transitioning to the Winter Uniform throughout Term 2. As the weather changes, the decision will be made regarding the exact timing of the transition. Two weeks' notice will be provided to the community, which will include a one week grace period, before it becomes mandatory.
The Uniform Shop will re-open on Monday 15 April from 8:00am to 2:00pm for your convenience. You can collect any Online orders done over the holidays from 10:00am on this day also.

Staffing
At the end of Term 1, Mrs Sullivan accepted a part-time, promotional role as a Teacher/Director with a Preschool. We congratulate her on this wonderful accomplishment and would like to thank her most sincerely for her warmth and dedication, and the knowledge she brought to the role of Pre-Prep teacher throughout her time at Clayfield.
We welcome Ms Angela Lord as Pre-Prep teacher beginning in Term 2. Angela's experience in both Primary and Kindergarten settings, internationally and in Australia, will make her a wonderful addition to our Primary teaching team. Recently, Angela has worked in a relief capacity at Somerville House, which provides a lovely connection with our PMSA schools.
With Mrs Denise Burns' contract coming to an end, we are so pleased to be welcoming back Mr John Richardson to Clayfield College after ten years as Deputy Primary Principal at the Lakes College and Grace Lutheran College. Mr Richardson was at the College last term as he re-familiarised himself with the students, staff and campus. He is looking forward to the Year 4/5 Camp in Week 1.
Mrs Angelique Both has accepted a Primary teaching role at the College. We are delighted that she will be with us in a full-time, permanent capacity.
ANZAC Day
Prep to Year 12 students will be commemorating ANZAC Day with a student/staff Assembly on Tuesday 23 April. Clayfield College Primary students are encouraged to attend the service at Kalinga Park on 25 April, which has seen the Clayfield community and surrounding suburbs partake for over 100 years. It would be lovely to see as many Clayfield College students attend and join in as we proudly march as a school.

Ladies Lunch
The Clayfield College Ladies Lunch is a much-loved event that brings together members of our extended Clayfield family – current, future and past parents, Old Collegians, donors, corporate supporters and friends. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ladies Lunch was an annual, sold-out event, so understandably, there is much anticipation and excitement throughout the community for its return in 2024!

Serving Others
I am so proud of the students and staff who have continued to shine their lights and serve others. At the beginning of the year, I challenged our Primary community to see how often and in how many ways they can help others. We have almost filled our board which proudly sits in the Primary Administration area.

The Primary staff are always available to assist you should you require any help. Their best contact is via email, however for anything that requires immediate attention, please call the College directly. We look forward to sharing another action-packed term with you.
