From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust you had a wonderful Easter, filled with cherished moments spent with family and loved ones.  While many of us were enjoying the break, the College remained abuzz with ongoing student enrolments, capital works, maintenance and staff appointments.

I’m pleased to share that on Monday we look forward to 13 new students commencing at the College. Thank you in advance for welcoming these new students and their families into our Clayfield College community. Our school is one which truly embodies the values of belonging and community and I thank you for the important role you play in this.

As we shift our focus to Term 2, we have an exciting nine weeks ahead of us. Amongst the exceptional teaching and learning which takes place each day, we’re gearing up for several noteworthy events. These include our Interhouse Cross Country and QGSSSA/Andrews Cup and Britton Shield Cross Country Championships, the commencement of our Opus Concerts, Ladies Lunch, Arts Day, Year 11 Soiree and Foundation Annual Giving Day Appeal. I hope to see many of you at these events as we come together to celebrate and engage in the vibrant life of our school community.

Our Boarder Marketing 2024 Regional Tours are set to commence with a visit to Goondiwindi and St George from 2 – 6 May. Representing the College at the St George Show will be Mrs Searle, Head of Boarding, and Mr Desmarchelier, Head of Secondary. They will be accompanied by Mrs Lockyer, Head of Creative Arts and Languages and Mrs Gordon, Director of Co-Curricular Music, along with our String Quartet who will be showcasing their musical talents at St George schools and performing at the St George Show. Later in the term, Mrs Searle and Ms Dixon, Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement will be visiting Emerald, Longreach and Winton. We will be hosting a family event at each of these locations and look forward to meeting with our regional and remote families.  In addition to the Regional Tours outlined below we are also delighted to have opportunity to connect with the international Clayfield community when we visit Japan in May.

A full list of the locations and dates of the tours are below.

The refurbishment of the Visual Arts Rooms and construction of the Primary Playground have forged ahead over the holidays, with these projects expected to be completed in the coming month.

I am pleased to welcome the following staff to the College this term:

  • Mrs Angelique Both – Primary Teacher
  • Mr Paul Jennison – Secondary Science Teacher
  • Ms Angela Lord – Pre-Prep Teacher
  • Mr John Richardson – Primary Teacher

Mrs Simone Sullivan, Pre-Prep Teacher will be concluding her time with us at the end of Week 1. We wish Simone all the best in her future endeavours and thank her for her contribution to the Clayfield community.

I hope you enjoy the remainder of the break and I look forward to welcoming you back on campus on Monday.

Kind regards,
