Borrowing in Stage 3
This year, we have seen a heightened interest in the library from our Stage 3 students. It is great seeing our borrowing numbers growing drastically for our Year 5 and 6 students. We know that as our students get older, the use of technology increases, and this can sometimes mean students' love of reading can drop off. These numbers show that our Stage 3 students aren't losing that love of reading!
Year 5
For this report, we have grouped the eight classes into three groups. As mentioned above, the numbers reflect approximately a 25% increase in the total number of books borrowed across Stage 3 from last year.
- Bottlebrush: 1893
- Lilly Pilly: 1778
- Eclipse and Solar: 1726
Year 6
- Waratah 1 & 2: 892
- Waratah 3 & 4: 774
- Eclipse and Solar: 711
We are very proud of the Year 5 students and their dedication to the library. Interest in becoming library monitors next year is already strong. We also want to thank the Year 6 students and wish them the best of luck on the next stage of their educational journey.
Mr. Matthews would especially like to thank this year’s library monitors. They formed a wonderful group who made it their priority to keep our library neat and tidy and to assist younger students during interest groups at lunch time. We will miss you greatly when you leave. We would also like to thank our parent volunteers, in particular Su-Ann who has come assisted in the library nearly every day in Term 3 & 4.

Thank You
Working in the library is one of the most wonderful experiences. You get to interact with every student and teacher in the school. It is a hub at the heart of the school that never really stops beating. Whether it’s lessons, clubs, interest groups, or teachers using the PLC, there is always something going on here, and the students love to visit this safe and happy place.
Mr. Matthews and the rest of the library staff and volunteers would like to sincerely thank the entire Chatswood community for their interest and support of the library throughout 2025. We all wish you a happy holiday season, and as always, keep on reading!
