Calling all Volunteers

Welcome back to our returning families, and hello to the new families joining our wonderful Chatswood community!

Now that the teachers are back and busy planning for the year ahead, the Library staff are excited to implement some big changes this year, and to do that, we need your help.

Mr Matthews and the library team are looking for parent volunteers who can assist for about an hour in the morning, between 9:00 and 10:00 am.

This year, students will return their books through mobile return boxes placed at various locations around the school first thing in the morning. Volunteers will assist by collecting these boxes, bringing them back to the library, sorting the books, placing them on trolleys and reshelving books where possible.

All training will be provided by Mr Matthews or Ms Lee. Libraries are community hubs, and they rely on the support of their community to thrive.

If you are interested in volunteering an hour of your week, please contact the school office with your details, and Mr Matthews will be in touch.

Borrowing in 2026

Borrowing will commence in Week 5 of this term. Students are required to bring a school library bag where possible. These library bags can be purchased through Lowes at a cost of $16.95. They are durable and will stand the test of time.

If you are unable to obtain one, Mr Matthews is happy for students to bring a plastic or fabric book sleeve, which can usually be purchased from Smiggle or Officeworks. Recycled fabric bags or canvas tote bags are also acceptable substitutes or temporary replacements.

Please note, if your child forgets their bag or brings a paper or plastic shopping bag, they will not be able to borrow from the library.

We look forward to seeing you all back next week. Have a great and restful weekend, and as always, keep on reading!
