Our Swimming Carnival will take place on Wednesday 4 March, in Week 6 at Pymble Ladies College Aquatic and Fitness Centre. The carnival will be limited to competitors only, meaning that only students participating in the races will be allowed to attend. This decision aims to streamline the event and focus on the participants.
A competitor is defined as a strong swimmer who can competently swim 50 meters of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, or butterfly in deep water without stopping or holding onto the side of the pool or ropes.
All students from Years 3 to 6, as well as Year 2 students who are turning 8 years old this year, will receive a permission note via School Bytes. It is important that all families complete the permission note, please select 'no' if your child will not be participating. We look forward to seeing all our competitors at the pool in Week 6!
Our Sports House Captains will attend the event to cheer on our competitors.
Parents and spectators are welcome to attend. Please note that there is no parking available at the venue, so we recommend travelling by train. Spectator entry is via Gate 1 at Pymble Ladies College.

Each year in late January or February, many communities across Asia celebrate the Lunar New Year, a time of renewal, family gatherings, and rich cultural traditions. Although these celebrations share common themes, each culture expresses them in unique and vibrant ways.
This year, we look forward to broadening this event to include:
We warmly invite parents and carers to attend this event here at our school on Thursday, 19 February. It will be held in The Park, starting at 9:20 am.

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) is a yearly assessment designed to measure student knowledge and skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and numeracy. NAPLAN testing will occur for Year 3 & 5 this term in Week 7, 8 & 9. Students will need a set of headphones to use during the tests which have an aux connection. We will remind students again closer to the assessment date.
Over the next few weeks, Kindergarten students will sit one-to-one with their teacher to complete their Best Start Assessment. The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a valuable tool that helps teachers understand each child’s early learning and development as they begin school. There is no preparation required, it's simply a snapshot of what skills in language, literacy, and early numeracy your child is bringing to school, to support tailored teaching to meet their individual needs. This ensures a strong foundation for lifelong learning and confidence in the classroom.
It’s always wonderful to have our students in classrooms, ready to engage and learn. Our teachers and school staff are committed to fostering growth and opportunity, and we are here to work with you to support your child to reach their full potential.
Consistently going to school has countless benefits – from learning, to creating social connections and improving wellbeing through access to support and quality education.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
As we look ahead to this school year, I’d like to remind our school community that we are here to work with you to support your child to thrive. We know that families experience a variety of challenging circumstances, and we are committed to working with you to address any barriers to regular attendance.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible, even if it’s just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day. Of course, there will be times when your child is unable to be at school, like when they are unwell. Medical appointments should take place outside school hours where possible, and family holidays should be taken in term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or or one of the Deputy Principals. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the NSW Department of Education website.
Thank you for being a part of our school community and for partnering with us to ensure students access the endless benefits of regular school attendance.
As students return to school after being unwell, we want to remind all families about the importance of prioritising the health and safety of our entire school community. To help prevent the spread of illness, please ensure your child only returns to school when they are feeling well and symptom-free.
We encourage all families to follow the guidelines provided by NSW Health, which offer practical advice on managing common illnesses and when it is safe for children to resume school activities. You can find detailed information about exclusion periods for various illnesses here:
NSW Health School Exclusion Periods.
Together, by staying vigilant and following health recommendations, we can maintain a safe and welcoming environment for both students and staff.
