Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
Welcome back to the 2026 school year. It has been a joy to see our students return so happily, settling quickly into their routines. By Day 2, classrooms were already buzzing with a full learning load. We remain deeply committed to every child's educational outcomes and look forward to working in a strong partnership with you throughout the year.
Our community BBQ last night was a wonderful way to begin the year together. It was lovely to see so many families and freinds of St Mary's reconnecting and enjoying each other’s company. We also proudly congratulated Lucy, Edmund and Fin on their Australia Day Awards, a special achievement celebrated by our whole community.
On Thursday morning, students led a beautiful Mass to mark the beginning of the school year. Our 2026 theme, “Seek peace and pursue it,” provides a meaningful focus for our community as we strive to live with kindness, respect and faith in our daily actions. We extend a warm welcome to our newest Foundation students, Dusty Brister and Mason Wilson. They have made a fantastic start and already feel part of the St Mary’s family. We also welcome our new staff members and thank them for the energy and experience they bring to our school.
For those who may have missed last year’s newsletter, Mrs Brianna Gleisner has joined our staff in the Student Wellbeing-MHiPS role. This role supports the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of our students and families, and we are very fortunate to have Mrs Gleisner as part of our team. You can read more about her background and the support she provides in the Wellbeing section of this newsletter.
Our swimming and gymnastics program began today and will run each Friday for the next six weeks. This program is an important part of our Physical Education curriculum, helping students build confidence, fitness and essential water safety skills. We have a new bus driver. I've heard he has great taste in music!
A reminder that Catholic Education Sandhurst has scheduled a pupil-free day for St Mary’s to allow important upgrades to our internet and wireless systems. On this day, staff will undertake professional learning focused on learner diversity and inclusive practice, as well as complete first aid training to ensure certifications remain current. Thank you for your continued support as we begin another exciting year together. We are looking forward to a year filled with growth, learning and community.
Kind Regards,
