5-8 Community News

A big welcome to the start of the 2026 school year. We are excited about the year ahead and can’t wait to get to know all of our students further.
We have welcomed over 20 new Year 7 students to our college this year. They have come from a range of schools, such as Tatura, Tongala, Rushworth and Lancaster. Each has made a great start and have started creating new friendships.
We are excited to welcome back Jamiah Clarke who will be teaching in the Year 8 space. Jamiah has a wide range of skills and will help lead our English and Humanities departments. We also welcome Stuart Taylor who will lead our wellbeing team, as well as teach maths and P.E.
Our Years 5 to 8 students have maintained their high standards around their entry, exit and cue to start to routines. Each of these allows them to be organised and utilise every minute of their class time. We will be further adding routines around using their whiteboards effectively, ensuring an inclusive classroom through quality questioning and how they use their voice in the classroom.
Year 7 camp is fast approaching. The excitement is building amongst the students as we start to discuss the itinerary, cabin configurations and when they will learn to surf. They can’t wait for the 25th February to arrive.
Some reminders for our students:
Ensure their laptops are charged each night
Ensure all books are organised, labelled and sorted into their subject areas
Ensure they are looking after their own battery – sleep, diet and exercise. These will be discussed further in the coming weeks.
We are look forward to the year ahead and can’t wait to meet all families.
