Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the New School Year!
It is a privilege to return to Sacred Heart School in 2026 as your new Principal. I am so grateful for the warm welcome I received from the Sacred Heart family last year, and I look forward to building on those connections in the year ahead.
More than just a place of learning, Sacred Heart is a community deeply rooted in its rich history and shared values. Whether your family has been with us for generations or you are joining us for the very first time, please know that you have a special place here.
In 2026, we are delighted to welcome Mrs Cathy Walters to the Year 3-6 classroom. Mrs Walters has already been busy getting to know the students and their learning needs. We look forward to sharing in her knowledge and enthusiasm; we are blessed to have her on our team.
We are so excited to welcome our newest families to the Sacred Heart community! We look forward to getting to know you all and the wonderful contributions your families will make to our school life.
Enrolling your child at Sacred Heart signifies a shared commitment to a vital partnership dedicated to maximising their learning, wellbeing, and faith. Guided by the Armidale Catholic Schools vision for a hope-filled future, we are committed to building strong connections between home and school, knowing that this collaboration is essential for the success of our students and the support of our staff and wider community.
Communication
Your child’s teacher is the first person you should contact with any concerns about your child. This can be done by emailing the teacher through the Compass Portal, which allows them the opportunity to respond in a timely manner. I am always available to meet with parents regarding confidential matters or matters of a sensitive nature. Please contact the office to arrange a suitable meeting time.
School Newsletter
The School Newsletter is our most significant means of communication between school and home, and we value the time it takes for our parents and family members to read it thoroughly. The newsletter will be available fortnightly during even weeks throughout the term.
Assembly
We are delighted to continue welcoming families into the school for our assemblies, held on Fridays of odd weeks from 2:30 pm – 2:55 pm. These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to showcase student learning and celebrate achievements. We will be presenting 'Living Well, Learning Well' awards across K-6, alongside Class Awards for each classroom. We look forward to seeing many of you for our first Assembly in Week 5, on Friday, 27th February.
Warm regards,
Leanne Herden
Principal
