    Catholic Identity

A very warm welcome to our families of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. A special welcome to our families who are beginning their journey at St Joseph’s for the first time. I am excited to work in partnership with you to embark on another year of continual growth in faith and improvement in learning. If you have any questions/ concerns or need support in the area of Religious Education or the Catholic Faith, please do not hesitate to contact me and I would be more than happy to answer your queries.

Year of St Francis

As we begin this academic journey in 2026, the universal Church invites us to celebrate the Eighth Centenary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi (1226-2026), a special Year proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV, who opened the celebrations with a letter to the Franciscan Family on January 10 in Assisi. Throughout the year, our school will highlight  St Francis's simplicity, love for creation, and missionary fire.

Kindergarten Visits the Church

At St. Joseph’s, the strong bond with the Parish church truly sets us apart. Recently, our Kindergarten children had the wonderful opportunity to explore the church, where they began to grasp its significance in our community and faith. Their reactions were filled with wonder and awe as they practiced expectations while taking in the beauty surrounding them.

We invite Kindergarten families to continue this journey by taking their children to the church on weekends. Regular visits will help nurture their understanding and connection to their faith, creating a lasting bond between their spiritual lives and the vibrant Catholic community at St. Joseph’s.

Whole School Mass of thanksgiving for the 2026 school year

Last week, we gathered for Mass as a thriving Catholic School Community to celebrate the new year. After this special Mass, the Year 6 students were presented with their leadership badges. Students participated in the Mass extremely reverently and we thank the parents and carers who attended and supported the students.

Blessing for the new school year

God of all knowledge and understanding,

we learn from Your Word and from your action in the world.

Our whole life is a journey of learning

and you nurture us and nourish us

with people and experiences

that teach us and guide us along the way.

We ask your blessing on our school community

as we begin this new school year.

Be with us in our joys and sorrows.

Be with us in our laughter and our tears.

Bless the bonds of friendship that bind us

and gently call us back when we neglect that friendship.

Bless the care we show to those in need

and open our eyes to see where we are needed.

Bless the welcome we extend to one another

and open our hearts to the stranger in our midst.

We ask your blessing on our students,

that they may learn to know themselves as you know and love them.

Bless the work of our classrooms,

that each student may know wonder and joy and pride in their accomplishments.

Bless the laughter and fun of the playground,

and help us always to include, not exclude.

Give comfort and encouragement to those who struggle

and let them know your love.

We ask your blessing on our teachers,

that they may follow the model of Jesus the Teacher.

Bless them with your wisdom and judgement;

your compassion and your understanding.

May the light of Christ within them shine

and may they be the instrument of God’s grace for their students.

Bless our families, our friends and all those who support our school.

May everyone who comes in contact with our school

see the face of God and know the love of Christ.

We make this prayer through the intercession of St Joseph and through Jesus who welcomed children.

Amen.
