Term 1 Week 4

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Over the last two days, our whole school community has marked the beginning of the Lenten season in preparation for Easter. This week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by sharing pancakes for morning tea. I would like to thank all our families for donating the pancake mix, our wonderful, energetic PT&F members for cooking and serving and to Mrs Scott and our Stage 3 helpers for ensuring that everyone was well fed and had a wonderful morning.

Yesterday, we were thankful to have Fr Chris come to school to celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass with us in the undercroft. Ash Wednesday is a Holy Day of Obligation in our Catholic faith and important as it marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent. In the lead-up to Easter, we are called to focus on the life and teachings of Jesus by attending to three specific domains: prayer, fasting, and works of charity and alms-giving.

School Swimming Carnival

What a wonderful day we all had at our Swimming Carnival last Friday. I would like to say a huge thank you to Nicole Henn, Bree Constable and Sophie Maher for coordinating the day, and a special thank you to all our parents who volunteered on the day. The carnival cannot run without your support.

Most of all, I would like to thank our students. Your effort, sportsmanship and good humour throughout the day were so appreciated. We are so proud of how you supported each other and represented your families and the school so well.

New in 2026: "Ready Set Grow" Meetings

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who attended our Ready, Set, Grow and Personal Plan Meeting this week, and those who have booked meetings over the next two weeks. As I outlined in the last newsletter, these meetings are an opportunity for parents to discuss the learning and well-being needs of their child, help set them up for a successful year, and for parents to continue to build their connection with the school. We have already received lots of positive feedback from parents/carers and teachers regarding these meetings. If you have not already booked a Ready Set Grow meeting, please contact the school office so this can be organised.
