Learning this week:   

Word Study begins in Week 2. Year 3’s will be focusing on diagraphs, which are a combination of 2 letters making one sound. Year 4’s will be focusing on the digraphs ch, sh and th.

 In Reader’s and Writer’s workshop we will be: 

  • Setting up the reading and writing community and our expectations 

  • Idea generation 

  • Setting up ideas, quick writes and tool kit 

  • What makes a good reader/writer 

 

 

Mathematics: We will begin looking at mental computation strategies, focusing on addition and subtraction through games. We will discuss what mathematicians do and what characteristics they have.   

 

Unit of Inquiry: We will continue building our class learning community and developing our class expectations through our Essential Agreements and school values. We will also be continuing inquiring into the Learner Profile Attributes: Caring, Inquirers, Principled, Balanced, Knowledgeable, Communicators, Thinkers, Risk-Takers, Open-Minded and Reflective.
