Message from the Principal

This week has been filled with connection, leadership, and community spirit at Balmoral.

Our 2026 Student Leadership Team proudly delivered their first initiative for the year — “Be Mine Balmoral” — just in time for Valentine’s Day. With care and enthusiasm, our student leaders organised and delivered flowers across the school, creating moments of surprise, kindness and genuine connection. It was wonderful to see students light up as they received their flowers, and I commend our leaders for setting the tone for a year grounded in service and positive culture.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with our 2026 School Captains, Esteban, and Ash, for a conversation about leadership, vision, and their aspirations for the year ahead. We discussed their leadership agenda and the upcoming Student Congress initiative, which will provide an important platform for student voice later this term. Their clarity of purpose and commitment to leading with authenticity and impact is impressive, and I look forward to sharing more about this initiative in the coming weeks. You can listen to the full podcast on ‘Chalk Talk’ on Spotify (link).

Our Student Leadership Team has also commenced a Leadership Deep Dive program in partnership with Griffith University. Through this experience, students are exploring leadership traits, skills, and their own areas for growth to lead with greater impact. They have already gained valuable insights into their personality preferences and leadership styles. As the program progresses, students will deepen their understanding of teamwork, collaboration, and emotional intelligence — critical capabilities for leading others effectively.

Looking ahead, our first P&C Meeting for 2026 will be held on Monday 16 February at 6:00pm, at the top of the Main Administration Building. I warmly invite both new and returning parents to join us. The P&C plays an important role in strengthening partnerships across our school community, and it is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families and contribute to the continued growth of Balmoral.

Thank you to our student leaders, families and staff for the positive energy that continues to define our start to 2026.

Regards,

Timothy Barraud
