A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Open Afternoon/Wominjeka Picnic
It was lovely to see so many members of our community connecting with the learning environments and immersing themselves in the learning and documentation that has already taken place during term one at BNWPS. There was such a happy and authentically interested buzz around the school, with families connecting with each other and students proudly touring family members around the classroom and the school grounds.
To then see so many families attending the Welcome to Country and the Smoking Ceremony in Yakkai Baring was a delight and a testament to the community’s engagement with our land and its Aboriginal narrative.
A big thank you goes to Uncle Trevor and Aunt Kylie who facilitated the Welcome to Country and the Smoking Ceremony.
The Picnic was then the icing on the celebration cake, with so many families talking, laughing, sharing and connecting in the sunshine.
Student- Led Conferences next Monday!
Next Monday (23rd February) is scheduled to be our Student-Led conference day.
As we had previously mentioned, staff have worked in response to community feedback to alter the way that these conferences run in order to give parents/carers more of an opportunity to discuss their child’s learning and wellbeing needs.
As a result, we will be re-labelling these as ‘Three-Way Conferences.’
All conferences will take place on-site.
Students will still be required to attend, and take part in the beginning of the conference. Parents and teachers will then have an opportunity to chat.
Each conference runs for 10 minutes and can be booked between 10am and 6pm through the Sentral platform. The booking platform will close at 1 pm on Friday 20th Feb (this Friday) and we will be unable to schedule appointments outside of this window. If you require support to access the Sentral booking platform, or to make bookings online, please pop in and see someone in the front office.
This term, bookings are only available with classroom teachers. Specialist teachers (Arts, P.E, Indonesian and STEM) will be available for conferences at other times in the year.
