What’s been happening in PE

We have had a wonderful start to Term 1 in Physical Education at Highvale Primary School. It has been fantastic to see all students across all year levels settling into PE routines, building positive relationships, and engaging enthusiastically in their lessons.

Our Prep students have had a fantastic introduction to PE in their first weeks at school. They have been learning how to move safely in the space, follow instructions, and participate in fun games that build confidence, listening skills, and teamwork. It has been wonderful to see their excitement and willingness to try new activities as they begin their PE journey.

All students across the school have been working together to establish clear expectations for our PE lessons, discussing what learning should look like, feel like, and sound like in an active environment. They have also explored how to demonstrate our SWPBS values during cooperative and competitive games. These experiences have encouraged teamwork, positive sportsmanship, and respectful communication, while continuing to develop fundamental movement skills.

As we look ahead to the remainder of the term, students will be developing their striking and fielding skills through games of teeball, while also learning the rules and strategies of the game. Through these lessons, students will build coordination, teamwork, and game awareness in a fun and supportive environment.

In the lead-up to our whole-school sports carnival, students will also begin practising a range of carnival events during their PE sessions to help them feel confident and prepared for the day.

It has been fantastic to see such positive engagement across the school, and we are looking forward to a fun, active, and successful year ahead.
