This week, we meet three more of our lead performers in Mary Poppins Jr. - the ever-charming Bert, the regimented father George Banks, and the loving mother of Jane and Michael, Winifred Banks.

We also shine a spotlight on a student from our creative team. Read on to discover how Year 7 student Georgia Laurie created the amazing artwork featured on our promotional poster and program.

Creative Team Spotlight – Production Artwork by Georgia Laurie, Year 7

This year’s Mary Poppins Jr. promotional artwork and program cover were designed by Georgia Laurie, Year 7. Her designs capture the magic, imagination, and energy of the production and will feature across our posters, programs, and promotional materials.

What inspired your design?

I watched the original Mary Poppins movie for inspiration and from there, I took some photos from the movie and also looked online at various images.

How did you decide on the colours?

For the Moonlight artwork, which is featured on the promotional posters, I decided blue and purple tones would really suit the main colour theme. For the Carousel artwork, featured in the program, I was inspired by the whimsical colours used in the movie.

What medium and techniques did you use?

I used acrylic paint, acrylic paint markers, and alcohol markers to create the artworks.I used brushes for backgrounds, and for the Carousel artwork, I also used a tea towel to apply acrylic paint over the background to create more texture.

How does it feel seeing your work become part of the show branding?

Good! I’m excited for when the school community and public see my artworks on the posters and program.

Stay tuned for our next newsletter edition, where we will share details about our rehearsal process and the growth we have seen throughout the production journey.
