Soccer Inter school sports 2026

On Friday the 15th of May, 15 of our 5/6 students went to soccer Inter School sports. They arrived at Gillon Oval at 9:15, they were previously informed that they were going to play at Clifton Park in group B but just before they were about to start they were moved to group A.

In the first round of the comp Insieme United had a bye, they supported one of the teams playing even though they suffered a bad loss. In the second round, the boys in the pink played BEPS and were victorious 2-1. All the group stage matches were straight 20 minutes.

In the second match, we played the team the team who ended up winning the whole tournament: Our Ladies help of Christian . The Pink Unicorns didn’t get off to the best start. At kick off, right off the bat, Our Ladies help of Christian’s star player skilled all our played and scored. But Insieme United didn’t give up, even though they ended up scoring again, our team didn’t give, scoring and taking control of the game. Even they didn’t win they didn't get down they then moved on to the next game with a great spirit.

There were two more games in the group stage and Insieme United won both of them, the first one 2-0 against Deutsce Schule Melbourne. The second against Brunswick North West primary school 2-1. By winning this many matches we came second in our group and move onto the Semifinals.

We came second in our group so that meant we play st Joseph’s primary school. they started of with a goal from kick of but we did not give up that easily. Rhys came back with a banger!!! and then Ted gave us another to put us ahead 2-1,it stayed like that for a while and then they got a free kick just out side of the box and sadly scored.So it went to a penalty shootout.

Ted scored first and then Tom made a cracking save to make it 1-0,then Gabe scored next and then the player missed,and then George sadly missed his penalty and the they scored and then the goal keeper Tom scored his penalty and then saved it to win 3-1. we made it to the final!!!

In the final Ted put us in the lead 1-0. it stayed like this for a bit, until the 15th minute they scored harder. But BSPS did not give up we almost scored but the keeper saved it.

In the penalty shoot out, Ted took first and scored then that scored to make it 1-1.

Archie was up next but sadly hit it over the bar then they scored to make it 2-1 then Rhys sadly missed his penalty, the they scored making it 3-1.

Even though our BSPS team lost this they copped it by the chin and they are training hard for the Bilingual World Cup. And don’t worry the pink unicorn will be victourious!!!!

Sport Interscolastico – Insieme United

BSPS is now in its second year of participation in School Sport Victoria (SSV) interschool sport, and we are excited to be building a strong, positive and inclusive sporting culture.

Through SSV, students have the opportunity to take part in a range of sports including soccer, football, basketball, t-ball, cross country, athletics and more. Opportunities extend through district, regional and state levels. Some interschool competitions are open to students in Years 3–6, while others are specifically for Years 5–6, depending on the sport and level of competition.

Alongside interschool sport, there are lots of extra-curricular sporting opportunities including our whole school athletics carnival, cross country, Bilingual Schools Network (BSN) Soccer World Cup, and staff vs students basketball.

Our teams proudly compete as Insieme United; insieme meaning “together”, reflecting unity, teamwork and school pride. Students represent our school with forza (strength), rispetto (respect) and gioia (joy).

Our sporting program is guided by our values of Compassion, Sense of Possibility, Constant Learning and Mutual Respect. We encourage students to support one another, embrace challenges, learn through experience and show fairness and sportspersonship in all they do.

Our aim is for students to learn to enjoy both playing and watching sport, developing an appreciation for participation, effort and fair play. Parents and carers are warmly welcomed as spectators, playing an important role in modelling positive support, encouragement and sportspersonship at all events. There are often opportunities for parents/ carers to come along and help out as volunteers.

While competition is exciting, our focus is on participation, connection, wellbeing and fun; celebrating effort, encouragement and spirito di squadra (team spirit).

Selection process

Teams are selected through a fair and transparent process, with different approaches depending on the sport. In some cases, students may participate in try-outs, while in others, selection is based on class performance or other measures such as beep tests. Consistent demonstration of our school values is always the first criteria.

Places in teams are often limited, so it is not always possible for every student to be selected on every occasion. Staff are mindful of sharing opportunities for students fairly across the year, while also balancing the needs of each team and competition.

Feeling disappointed if not selected is a normal part of sport; having these experiences is part of Constant Learning and developing resilience. There are always new opportunities ahead and other chances to participate.

Team sheets will be displayed on the Sport Interscolastico noticeboard. Consent and payment must be made via Compass by the due date. Late consent will not be accepted.

Expectations for a positive game day experience

If there are any concerns, these are to be directed calmly and respectfully to the Teacher in Charge, who will follow up with officials if required. Students, parents and spectators must not approach referees or officials directly.
