3/4 Team News

Our countdown for camp is nearing its final days and the excitement in the classroom is through the roof! Favourite horses have been picked out, plans on how to stay up through the night are being devised, and the whispers of a special opera duet from Alysha and Sole have made their ways through the halls.
Important things to remember for our big adventure.
- We are meeting Wednesday 8:30am in the quadrangle.
- All students should have brought home a packing list, and now is a great time to ensure your child has all the items they will need for camp.
- A reminder that students are not to bring electronics, bathers or any extra food to camp. Students will need to bring their own lunch and afternoon snacks for the first day, as the first camp meal provided on the first day will be dinner.
In the classroom
In English, we have been busy wrapping up our figurative road trip around Australia with Alison Lester’s story Are We There Yet? Students are consolidating their knowledge of Australia's states and territories, the capital cities, and important landmarks at each of these destinations. They are busy finishing off their informative paragraphs ready for the Travel Expo at the end of the term. They are also working on making their writing more interesting by using relating verbs (e.g. is, are, has and have), prepositional phrases, and appositives.
In maths, we are working on building our times table fluency to frontload for our multiplication and division unit next term. Students are trying to get a green heat map to show they have quick recall of their facts, so we encourage you to stick that times table poster on the back of the toilet door, for you to challenge your child to a times table race over the next few weeks, or some Times Table Rockstar action to build that solid foundation!
In Spanish, we are editing, revising and publishing our informative texts about important Australian monuments. We are digging for the nitty gritty bits of information like Indigenous Countries, geographical processes that attribute to the formation of natural monuments and the amount of money or years that went into their construction. There's a lot of information currently swirling around our brains. Secondly and IMPORTANTLY... La Semana Cultural is coming up and for our Travel Expo, the 34's are going to be making diorama's on the monument they've written a text on so parents... listen up. Please send your child to school with an old shoe box or any kind of small-ish box for them to create their dioramas in... we're depending on your collaboration for this to happen!
In the meantime, please peruse some stellar drafts created by some incredible writers who are taking on feedback and elevating their texts voraciously!
