As we welcome the colder winter weather, it is hard to believe that another busy and successful term has come to an end. Term 2 has been filled with learning opportunities, sporting achievements, camps, excursions and community events that have provided our students with many memorable experiences.
A significant milestone this term was our Senior Pathways Information Night, held on 3 June, which was attended by more than 120 students and parents/carers. The evening provided valuable information and guidance for our Years 8, 9 and 10 students as they begin considering subject selections and pathway options for 2027.
Year 8 students explored the elective opportunities available to them as they prepare to enter Years 9 and 10, while Year 9 students were introduced to a range of options including elective subjects, Fast Track VCE opportunities and VET pathways. For our Year 10 students, the evening provided important information regarding the VCE and VCE Vocational Major pathways, helping students and families make informed decisions about their future learning journey. We encourage students and parents/carers to continue conversations with subject teachers and relevant staff to explore the many opportunities available and identify the pathway that best aligns with each student's interests, strengths and aspirations.
Our students have also proudly represented the College across a variety of sporting events. Congratulations to our students who competed in the Campaspe 5/6 Netball competition and to those who qualified for the Loddon Mallee Region Cross Country Championships after excellent performances at the division level. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by all competitors.
Our Years 9 and 10 boys football team represented the College with pride throughout their competition, demonstrating teamwork, determination and resilience on the field. Thank you to the staff who supported and coached our students throughout the season.
This week, our Years 3 and 4 students participated in the Winter Sports Day at Kyabram P–12 College. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to compete alongside and against students from neighbouring schools, develop new friendships and experience the positive benefits of teamwork and participation.
Last Friday, our staff participated in a Professional Learning and Wellbeing Day. This valuable time allowed staff to engage in professional growth, collaborative planning and wellbeing activities that support the continued delivery of high-quality learning experiences for our students. We also hope that families enjoyed the King's Birthday long weekend and the opportunity to spend time together.
ICAS assessments will once again be available to students in August. Further information regarding registration and participation will be sent home to families before the end of term.
ICAS is an internationally recognised academic assessment program that provides students with the opportunity to challenge themselves beyond the classroom curriculum. The assessments focus on higher-order thinking, problem-solving and application of knowledge across a range of subject areas, including English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling and Digital Technologies. Participation is voluntary and provides students with valuable feedback on their strengths and areas for growth while encouraging academic curiosity and achievement.
Alongside these events and opportunities, students and staff have been working diligently to complete assessment tasks and learning programs throughout the semester. The information gathered through these assessments has informed the Semester 1 reports that will soon be shared with families. We encourage parents and carers to review these reports with their child and celebrate the growth and achievements made throughout the first half of the year. Should any questions arise, or if you would like to discuss your child's progress further, please contact your child's TA, who will be happy to assist.
As we conclude Term 2, I would like to thank our students for their hard work and commitment, our staff for their dedication and professionalism and our families for their ongoing support of our school community.
We wish all families a safe, restful and well-earned break. Enjoy the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning.
