Hello Cassia Families,
Firstly, a huge thank you to all our parents for another very successful Autumn Fair. There is something magical about coming all together to create wonderful community events, and it wouldn’t be possible without all your hard work over the last couple of months. Thank you all!
We are starting preparations for our winter festival this week, learning a new circle and exploring different arts and crafts. We are very excited to come together at the end of the term and want to remind you of a few important dates.
Our winter festival is on Friday, the 12th of June, in the evening. Invitations and more information will be available soon.
Cassia 1 and 2 will have a winter festival practice together on Wednesday, the 10th of June, at 2:30pm, and you are invited to come and practice with your children.
Also, as we are deep in winter festivities, this is your reminder that the weather is really getting colder, so it’s important that the children are dressed appropriately to make the most of their day. Please send them to school wearing at least three warm layers, along with long pants and socks. If your child doesn’t have slippers yet, please also remember to bring them along, as they wear them inside. Warmth in layers means that the children can experience true freedom in their play, as they are fully prepared for the season. Young children are still developing their sensitivity and awareness of their physical bodies and don't usually recognise or respond to cold in the way adults do, so we need to teach them. Keeping them warm supports their sense of regulation as well as obvious comfort and health.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about lunch boxes. Please leave packaging at home and bring unpackaged food to school in your children’s lunch boxes. We had a recent incident in which a child tasted the silica-preservation packet from someone else's lunch box, so this is a safety precaution, as well as an environmental and practical measure.
We always ask the children to eat their nourishing “main course” first before enjoying their healthy treats and snacks afterwards. This can be fruit, vegetables, crackers, sultanas, dates, or natural yogurt with honey (in a container rather than the squeezy packets). Morning tea is provided, so this is all they need. Too many food options can be overwhelming.
Looking forward to our winter festival preparations.
Enjoy your week.
Blessings,
Sophie, Madonna, Maika and Letetia
