Eclipse House News

It has been a very enjoyable term in Eclipse. The house has, as always, been busy throughout the week, with many of the boys heading off to their training sessions for football, soccer and hockey.

The past few weeks have been especially busy during prep time, as the Year Ten, Eleven and Twelve students have completed their end-of-semester exams. It has been great to see the boys knuckling down and committing to their study, and we hope this effort is reflected in some strong academic results.

Weekends in Eclipse have also been active with sport, although the house itself has been a little quieter. Fridays often start with many of the boys still in the house, before large numbers head off early on Saturday mornings for their respective matches. It is always pleasing to see the friendly rivalry within the house, as the boys often end up competing against one another. Win, lose or draw, they remain supportive and good mates when they return to the boarding house.

As always, National Boarding Week was a highlight. It was great to see the boys getting involved in dress-up events, and well done to Zane and all of the boarders who participated in the football match against the day students, an excellent effort to come away with the win.

Over the past few weeks, we have also celebrated several birthdays within the house. Last week, both Nick and Stew marked their birthdays, and Jordy celebrated his as well. These occasions are always special, giving us the chance to bring the boys together, enjoy some cake, and share photos back home with families.

Eclipse is set to be a quieter house over the coming weeks. Many of the boys will be away for Country Week, while the remaining Year Ten, Eleven and Twelve students will finish on Wednesday of Week Eleven. A couple of our Year Nine boys, Matthew Severin and Harry Newfield, will be heading off on the Canberra trip. I wish them a safe journey and hope they have an educational and enjoyable experience.

I will be in Perth for Country Week with a large group of boarders, coaching the boys’ hockey team, which features a number of Eclipse students. It promises to be a great week and will lead nicely into the holiday break, giving the boys time to return home, recharge, and prepare for Term Three.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.
