Dear Foundation families,
We have reached Week 8 of Term 2; the end of the term is in sight! Our Foundation students continue to impress us with their effort, enthusiasm, and growing sense of pride in their learning. They are making wonderful choices by staying focused, celebrating their achievements, and reflecting on how they can grow even further as learners.
Pirate Day was an absolute highlight earlier in the term! Thank you so much for your support in making it such a memorable event. The costumes were spectacular, the excitement was infectious, and both students and teachers had a wonderful day.
We also shared a truly special moment watching our butterflies emerge from their chrysalises and taking flight into the world. Witnessing this transformation was a magical experience and while it was an emotional farewell for some, there was plenty of excitement as they headed off to explore their new environment!
In Health, students have been exploring resilience, learning to recognise how their bodies feel when they are stressed, anxious, or worried, and practising calming strategies, such as breathing techniques, to support their wellbeing.
In Writing, our students have been working hard to include rich detail in their sentences (who, what, when, and where) and are now using conjunctions to extend and connect their ideas. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and creativity grow throughout the term.
In Maths, we have been exploring shapes through hands-on experiences. Students have enjoyed shape hunts inside and outside the classroom, identifying shapes in their environment, and describing their features.
With just a couple of weeks to go, we are so proud of everything our Foundation students have achieved this term. Thank you as always for your continued support; we truly appreciate your partnership in your child's learning.
Warm regards,
The Foundation Team

Year 4 Excursion to the 100 Story Building
Our Grade 4s had a fantastic day exploring storytelling and comic creation at 100 Story Building in Footscray. Students began their adventure by walking to Newport Station and catching the train to Footscray, which added to the excitement of the day.
At the Comic BOOM! workshop, students learnt how to turn real‑life moments into creative comic narratives, experimenting with characters, panels, pacing, and visual storytelling. The space was buzzing with imagination, and many students proudly shared their finished comics with their peers.
A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who joined us; your support made the day smooth, safe, and memorable.

In STEM this term, Foundation students explored the question ‘What are things made of?’ Through hands-on investigations, students discovered that everyday objects can be made from one or more materials and explored the properties of different materials. Students then worked collaboratively in teams to design, build, and test houses, using a range of materials. This challenge encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, while helping students understand how materials can be used for different purposes.

Chemical Sciences – Term 2
The Term 2 focus for students in Years 1 to 6 has been 'chemical sciences'. Students have been exploring different materials, investigating chemical reactions, and learning how substances can change when mixed or heated.
Some of the hands-on activities completed included:
These experiments encouraged students to observe, predict, question, and discuss the science behind the changes they discovered.

Earth Day Activities – April 2026 (Term 2, Week 1)
Students explored the history of Earth Day, how it began, and the important message it promotes about caring for and protecting our environment.
Our Year 1 & 2 students created ‘Earth Balancers’, the Year 3 & 4 students used recycled paper to make seed bombs, which were planted in the school garden, and the Year 5 & 6 students designed and built rubbish grabbers to share with their buddies.
These hands-on activities encouraged students to think about sustainability and the small actions we can take to help look after our planet.
