Last Week of Term

As we head into the last week of Term 3, can parents please be aware of several events that are on next week:

3 Way Conferences

On Thursday afternoon and Friday, PPPS teachers will be holding parent teacher , student interviews. By now, you should have scheduled a time with your child’s teacher.

These meetings offer a valuable opportunity to gain insight into your child’s progress before receiving their written report next term. We’d like to remind everyone in our school community to uphold our school values during this time. If you have significant concerns about your child or their teacher, please inform the office, and we will arrange for one of our senior staff members to attend your child’s 3-Way Conference.

Book Fair

When you do drop in to see your child’s teacher, please take the opportunity to visit our new school library and attend the Book Fair. We have hundreds of new books on sale, which is great to promote reading at home. A percentage of proceeds from our sales at the Book Fair go toward us being able to top up our library, meaning you are also supporting our school. During library lessons over the past week, students have been looking through the items on offer, so your child may already have their eye on a certain book.

End of Year Assembly

This Thursday 19th September at 2:45pm will be our end of term assembly. For those parents attending, we will be running our whole school numeracy competition and celebrating our specialists of the term winners.

Numeracy Dice Challenge

Over the past couple of weeks all of the students in the school have been participating in a maths dice competition. The challenge in the junior classes was adding numbers and in the senior classes was multiplying numbers with two dice. Each class champion was sent to the staffroom on Monday for our semi-finals, where Ms. Thomas, Ms. Taylor and I adjudicated a knockout competition.

We now have a 2024 champion for each year level in the school. These participants will play off on Thursday at our assembly. Congratulations to our year level champions:

  • Zachary B  P-10
  • Isaac G  P-14
  • Chace C 1-15
  • Isabel P 2-24
  • Tala M 3-29
  • Eddie Lo 4-17
  • Maheen K 5-6
  • Yuri (Grace) D 6-2

Bike Education

Over the past few weeks, Mr. Poyser has been facilitating bike education sessions for our Year 4 and 5 students, who are learning about how to safely ride a bike and follow the appropriate rules when doing so.

A special thankyou to parents of these students who have had to go to the extra effort of ensuring bikes get to school for these lessons.  Bike Education is similar to swimming lessons or dental check-ups—it's one of the many ways schools help parents nurture essential life skills in their children.

Year 3 Camp

I visited our Year 3 campers last Wednesday during their stay at our newest campsite, Alexandra Recreation Resort. A 90-minute drive from school, the campsite was spectacular, with a range of new facilities centred around a large lake. The highlight was students undertaking the flying fox and zooming from one side of the lake to the other! Congratulations to Ms. Di Cecco who organised the camp, and to the attending teachers, parent volunteers and 70 students who showed our school values to make a positive experience for all.
