I have been very lucky to attend the Year 4-6 Queenscliff adventure to Cottage by the Sea this week. The students and staff have had a great time so far and have made some great memories. Despite the cooler weather, the students have embraced the beach with boogie boarding and beach mini golf a highlight. The camp has amazing facilities and we are very lucky to be here. The food and Cottage by the Sea staff are amazing.
A reminder that school officially finishes at 2:30 p.m. this Friday and recommences on Monday 7th of October. Thanks to everyone for the term and lets keep working hard together and have a fantastic Term 4. Due to building works we will have to change some of our usual Term 4 activities. Keep an eye on COMPASS and the newsletter for more details.
We held multiple mini events for students, staff and visitors last Thursday 12th September for R U Okay Day. Our forty or so visiting school principals from the Loddon Campaspe Region were very impressed by our school and it is good praise for the dedication of our staff, school council and students who have worked hard to implement the SWPBS initiative over the last five years.
The R U Okay message encourages everyone to have conversations all the time not just on one day. Please keep checking in, listen and encourage your friends, family members to talk all year round.
Got a feeling that someone you know or care about isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it. Learn more about the signs and when it's time to ask R U OK? here.
By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow our conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.
Win a prize by naming the Wedderburn College Cookbook.
'Wedderburnt Cookbook' - surely you can do better than that!
Submit your ideas to the school, be crafty, use your imagination! You never know your name might win!
On the 1st of July 2025 it will be 160 years to the day when a school officially opened in Wedderburn. The 160 Years of Education will be celebrated the last week of Term 2, 2025 with a variety of activities across the week to embrace this monumental occasion. One of the key features of the celebrations will be the launch of a hard cover, 200 page, coffee table recipe & history book. We are now calling on families to submit their favorite recipes or Grandmas greatest hidden secrets to be considered for publication in this important book. Please understand that we are happy to take several recipes from families and community members, however it will not be possible for every recipe to be published. Not everyone will have a recipe published. We have the rest of this term to submit recipes. Please use the format attached to submit your recipes, see below.
