Tina King - APF Victorian President
Recent media attention has highlighted the relationships between unions and government at both state and federal levels, leading some members to inquire about the APF's political affiliations and potential sponsorship funding.
The APF is strictly an apolitical organisation with no ties to any political party. Our funding is derived solely from membership fees, and we receive no financial support or compensation from the Department of Education or any government body. This independence ensures that our representation of members remains unbiased, uncompromised, and focused entirely on advancing their interests without external influence.
Role of the APF
Industrial Relations 101
Industrial Relations 101 covers the basics of managing relationships between employers, employees, unions, and the government in the workplace. At the APF, in line with the principles of industrial relations, we focus on key issues such as your salaries, classifications, entitlements, protections, employment contracts, and how your performance is assessed and its outcomes. Additionally, we ensure you have access to industrial advocacy and support in matters related to discipline, conflict resolution, conflicts of interest, complaints, and performance management.
Industrial Relations 102
Industrial Relations 102 builds on the basics of workplace relations, diving deeper into advanced topics relating to the management and execution of one’s professional responsibilities, particularly in the context of Principal Class Employees interpreting and fulfilling their duties as outlined in their employment contracts. This includes the application of industrial agreements, Ministerial Orders, and adapting to a dynamic compliance environment shaped by evolving legislation, regulations, and policies.
Our strength as a union depends on continuous growth. Recently, we've experienced a surge in membership, and we urge you to keep this momentum going. Help expand our community by informing your colleagues and associates about the APF and the vital role we play in protecting and advancing your workplace rights and conditions. The more we grow, the stronger we become in advocating for the interests of all members. Your support in recruitment is crucial to our success and please feel free to distribute the attached brochure and membership form to your leadership team, colleagues and network.
