MCG and Melbourne Sports Museum Excursion
To support and celebrate our Term 3 Inquiry studies of sport, culture and the history of the Olympics, students from 5/6L, 5/6M and 5/6P visited the home of the 1956 Olympics, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Students participated in a guided 60-minute tour of the famous stadium, where students gained an insight into Melbourne’s sporting culture as they heard from proud MCC volunteers. Additionally, students also visited the Australian Sports Museum, which is a self-guided experience full of interaction and exploration.
Olympic Expo
Students from the 5/6 team were thrilled to show off their hard work for the term at our Olympic themed expo last week. Groups have spent the term researching all aspects of their selected country as well as the history and traditions of both the ancient and modern Olympic games. We were so pleased to welcome so many of our families and school community to visit and we are always very appreciative of the support given to students.
District Sports
A big congratulations to all our students who represented the school so well at the recent athletics event. A huge thank you to all parents who supported the day and to Mr Murrell for his organisation as always!
From all of us at the senior team have a safe and restful break. See you in Term 4!

Junior Years
What a fabulous end we've had to Term 3 in the P-2 team!
On Monday, September 9th, the Preps, Ones, and Twos went to the Ballarat Wildlife Park for their first excursion of 2024.
While the rain did make an appearance early in the morning, it cleared in time for us to start exploring the park. The students were excited and inquisitive and all represented Ballan Primary School exceptionally well and we were all so proud of them!
Some of the highlights from the day as reported back from the students:
- Feeding and petting the kangaroos
- Seeing the joeys
- Hearing the dingoes howling
- Seeing Crunch the Crocodile
- Patting a koala
- The bus ride
We were extremely fortunate to have so many parents offer to come along and volunteer, we are all so appreciative of their help and support as we really can't do these sorts of activities without them.
This term as part of our Inquiry focus, we have been researching and learning all about different Australian animals and this learning for the 1/2 students culminated in an Australian Animal exhibition on the last day of term.
The students put SO much effort into their information reports and their dioramas. It was wonderful to see so many families come along and show their support as well as the whole school coming down to the building to see the work as well.
We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe break - we will see you all back for Term 4!!
Kindest,
The P-2 Team - Miss C, Mr Ross, Mr M, Mrs G and Miss Harney
