Year 4 Georges River Environmental Centre Excursion
Year 4 Students
On Wednesday, 30th October, some students in Year 4 went on an excursion to the Georges River Environmental Centre. We had a fun filled day. Congratulations to Aleksander 4H, Angela 4A, Kevin 3-6 Lime and Lily 3-6 Lime for receiving an award from the educators at GREEC.
Some highlights from our students below.
My favourite part of the excursion was touching the different animals at the centre. I learnt that there are bull sharks in the Georges River. I recommend going to the excursion because you can lots of things about the environment. Sarah 4H
My favourite part about the excursion is when we got the touch Spotty the shingleback lizard and Bluey the blue tongue lizard. I learnt how Aboriginal were careful with the environment and knew to only take what they needed. Jenessa 4H
My favourite part of the excursion was going on a bushwalk and seeing many types of birds. I learnt that a two-headed lizard points its tail (that looks like a head) towards the predator so that when they attack, it can stick its tongue out to scare it away. I'd recommend to go on a bushwalk and so many types of different animals. Leon 4H
My favourite part about the excursion was finding the birds during our walk and seeing a 200 year old tree. I learnt that a 2 headed lizard does not have 2 heads but instead makes it predators like an eagle think it is a head when it is a tail. I would recommend the excursion because there's a lot of fun activities like finding lots of animals. Elias 4H
My favourite part of the excursion was touching different animals. I learnt that water bugs have different sensitive levels to the water they live in. I recommend the excursion because you get to touch animals and walk around the garden. Tiana 4H
The absolute BEST part of the excursion was where we went searching for birds because found some unique birds! I Learnt that there way more sea creatures like a water mite! I would absolutely recommend this excursion because they talk about Aboriginals connection to land, have a great view of the lake and look at many animals and insects. Hugo 4H
On the excursion to the Georges River at Chipping Norton, we got to walk around the bushes and have a beautiful view of the lake. I learnt about Aboriginal symbols and you can 'talk' to a frog by clicking your tongue. I recommend walking around to look for any rare birds. Vincent 4H
My favourite part of the excursion was touching all of the animals fur. The new thing I learnt was crushing up the leaves to release its natural oils. Maisen 4H
My favourite part about the excursion was going out for a walk and ticking ff the birds on that I saw on the list. I just learn that you only need to take what you need, for example, you only need to take a branch on a tree but you do not need chop down a whole tree for just one branch. Jennifer 4H
