Celebrating Learning

As Spring arrives the seeds they grow with life in all we sew

Cherry blossoms on the trees, fragrance in the breeze

The winds whirl on round and round, the seasons turn round and round

We have had a wonderful time telling stories, sharing ideas and learning together, although the Zambul Jambul has been playing tricks on us.  We have been arranging the numbers when she mixes them up and doing the numbers dance up and down them.

We have been gathering gems she has hidden and arranging them so that they are easiest to see and count. We have enjoyed taking handfuls of jewels and guessing how many there are before checking if there were more or less than we estimated.

After putting all the found treasures back into our chest we have come to suspect that the teen numbers were named by Pirates, as we noticed that counting on from teen, six and teen make 16, seven and teen make 17 and so on. We have been playing many number games.

We have been finding sounds and letters as well as numbers. Enjoying listening to and enacting each sound story with our dolls, props and choral singing.

We have been finding the shapes of each letter in nature, around the classroom and even in our lunch boxes.

We have enjoyed drawing these letter shapes and spotting them in each other’s pictures. We have been writing letters and words on the golden lines adjoining these drawings.

The folk in these tales, drawings and words have appeared in our beeswax or clay modelling as well such as the little red hen, the cockatoos cave and the slithering snake.

We are enjoying how colours meet in our water painting and looking forward to the holidays and term 4.
