Music
Kii from the Music Room!
Year 5/6
In Years 5 and 6 we have been learning how composers and musicians make music more interesting. We have been applying different Elements of Music to the piece Antigravity to see what happens and what we like. Students have found out that they can have an impact on music! They have used Dynamics, Tempo, Form and Timbre to change how the piece sounds.
Music Words
Elements of Music: the elements that make up a piece of music (Beat, Rhythm, Pitch/Melody, Tempo, Dynamics, Form, Timbre, Texture).
Dynamics: the volume of the music
Tempo: the speed of the music
Form: the order of things
Timbre: how different instruments sound depending on what they are made of and how they are played.
Year 3/4
In Year 3 and 4 we have continued playing music games to practice music skills.
We have also been singing! Our newest song is Country Roads which sounds so beautiful! Have a sing-a-long at home!
Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains
Shenandoah River
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin' like a breeze
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered round her
Miners' lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice
In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

TPS bands - Spicies
The Year 5 Spices and Year 6 Spices had a rockin’ time at the Megas concert! Both bands practiced hard leading up to the concert and had lots of fun on the night. Shout out to all students who have been so resilient in all of the changes to the bands this term.
A big thank you to our TPS parent, Kirsty Letts, who volunteers every Friday morning to coach the Year 5 band!
From the TIME teachers
What a delight it was to witness the MEGA's concert held at Thornbury High last week- the final one of our TIME 3-week concert series. The concert was a wondrous night showcasing the most incredible talented group of grade 5 and 6 music performers.
The buzz in the room was real, the raw and energetic talent was infectious and the camaraderie and support between students was heartwarming.
We enjoyed a fantastic line up of original compositions, band performances, new bands and the Spicy semitones, and creative collaborations with the wonderful orchestras. We had drums, ukuleles, piano, guitars, violins, violas, cellos, flutes, bass and super great singers. We got to reflect on our year 6’s and how their years spent doing TIME music lessons have helped develop them into fantastic musicians, composers and performers and we got to experience what a special part of our school community our TIME musicians are.
Thank you to all the wonderful students, parents and teachers that made it happen. It was a full house of families, friends and a lot of old TPS students who came to show support to this super talented group of Megas.
Thanks for all the support.
TPS Choir
Following the big concert at THe Melbourne Town Hall for the Boite Schools Chorus, The TPS Choir have been a bit quiet. We will get singing again next term at Wednesday Lunchtimes.
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers of the TPS choir for all of your enthusiasm and support for the Boite Schools Chorus!
