Mathematics

Number & Algebra   I   Measurement & Geometry   I   Statistics & Probability

Understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning will be explored and applied across all three areas of Mathematics this term.

In Number students will consolidate their understanding of place value through the creation of multi-step function machines, learning about arithmetic and geometric number sequences, revising the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and developing reasoning skills to explain their thinking.

In Measurement & Geometry students will measure, order and compare objects using familiar metric units of length, area, mass and capacity. They will revise reading analogue time and use their adding and multiplying skills to calculate perimeter and area. They will also learn to interpret simple grid maps to show position and pathways.

In Statistics & Probability students will identify events that involve chance and describe outcomes as impossible, unlikely, even chance, likely and certain; and creating and interpreting displays of data using lists, tables and graphs.
