Army Museum of Western Australia – Fremantle
Throughout Term 3, our Year 9 students have been studying History in their Humanities and Social Sciences classes with a particular focus on the Industrial Revolution and World War 1. In weeks 6 and 7, all students participated in an excursion to the Army Museum of Western Australia, located in Fremantle, to explore exhibits showcasing Western Australians' involvement in conflicts.
Did you know Western Australians first served overseas when we were still known as a Colony? Students were able to engage with veteran tour guides at the museum who were eager to pass on their knowledge and personal experiences having served in the Armed Forces. They also were able to try on real Army-certified uniforms, backpacks and even experienced a recreated Trench from World War 1. It was a delight to see our students learn about Australia’s involvement in conflicts and see them engage with past serving members of the Armed forces. A big thank you to Mr McGoorty, Ms Boyd, Mr Roberts, Miss Pisconeri, Miss Rafter, Miss Manuel, Mr Gherardi, Miss Zampino and Ms Fitzgerald for attending over the three days.
