Tournament of Minds (TOM)

One more sleep! Our five teams have been working tirelessly to perfect their solutions to the long challenge. Each team has chosen one of four divisions: STEM, the Arts, Social Sciences or Language Literature. Tomorrow, they will present their solutions to a panel of judges at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup.

In addition to the long challenge, students will also take part in a Spontaneous Challenge. Over the past few weeks, they have been meeting during recess, lunch, and before and after school to practise thinking creatively, collaborating as a team, and finding the best possible way to present their work. Their dedication and enthusiasm have been outstanding, and we are excited to see everything come together on the day.

A huge thank you to Ms Gillham, Ms Gray and Mr Levy for their invaluable guidance as facilitators. Your support has been key in preparing the teams for success.

Well done to all our students, and best of luck for the competition.

Enjoy every moment of the experience!

Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee

Do you know how to spell these words?

  • Exorbitant: highly excessive (prices)

  • Syncopation: a variety of rhythms played together to make a piece of music

The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee is an online competition where students aim to correctly spell thirty words in the fastest time. More than 210,000 students across Australia take part each year.

Recently, a group of our Year Seven and Year Eight students participated in the competition. We are delighted to announce that four of them have qualified for the State Finals, placing in the top 200 in Western Australia. Congratulations to Anushka Krautmann, Pratyaksh Sangwar, Sebastian Guinto and Neha Kanaparthi.

This week, these students competed in the State Finals, facing an even more challenging set of words. They have made us incredibly proud, and we now await the results to see if any have progressed to the National Finals.
