Greetings from Shaun

Even though it was a shorter term, we certainly managed to pack a lot in. We began with a curriculum day focused on literacy, closely followed with parent–teacher interviews that kept families connected with their child’s learning.

Our Prep students celebrated their 100th day of school, explored important safety messages with a visit from a Fire Truck, and enjoyed an excursion to the Museum of Play and Art. In Years 1 and 2, students worked on telling the time and calendars while also celebrating the writing of Alison Lester. Years 3 and 4 headed off to camp at Phillip Island and experimented with poetry, from haiku and diamante to rhyming couplets and rap. Years 5 and 6 wrote persuasive speeches through The Power of One, took part in the Winter Round Robin Gala Day, completed their swimming program, and engaged in the final Big Sister Experience.

Across the school, students extended their skills in digital technologies with coding, robotics, filming and video production. In Art they worked with sewing, weaving and textiles, and in PE they participated in a range of different sports while also developing skills such as kicking, striking, jumping and skipping.

Book Week filled the school with colour and excitement, highlighted by the parade and followed by a celebration of reading with families. We also took a moment to welcome our 2026 Preps to a special story time and look forward to their second session next term.

All of this has taken place alongside the enormous amount of work that has gone into preparing for our school production. From classroom teachers rehearsing songs with their classes, to the countless hours Anita has dedicated to getting the students ready, supported by Amy and our specialist teachers, the effort has been nothing short of extraordinary. It has truly been a whole-school endeavour, with students, staff and families all contributing to what promises to be a memorable night on stage tonight—a fitting way to celebrate the end of the term.

Hats are back

With the change of season, it’s time for our students to be sun smartonce again. From the 1st of September, all students are required to wear their broad-brimmed hats whenever they are outside at school. This helps protect them from harmful UV radiation, which can cause long-term skin damage, especially in children. Please remind your child to bring their hat each day and ensure they are making sun smart clothing choices, with shoulders covered for extra protection.

Landscaping Update

This last fortnight, the landscaping crew were hard at work on the crazy pavement, a fantastic way we’ve been able to recycle some of the concrete path from previous landscaping projects. They’ve also been repurposing a large number of bricks to complete a new path and reinforce some of the existing garden beds. Timber sleeper edges are being installed, the pergola is finished, and work on the kitchen garden fence is well underway. The team has been planting out gardens, levelling soil, and preparing everything for the final touches.

While the project isn’t quite finished, we’re VERY much looking forward to a celebration and official opening early next term.

Parent Opinion Survey

The Parent Opinion Survey has been emailed to all families, and we encourage everyone to take part. This is a valuable chance to share your thoughts and give feedback on our school. Your input helps us celebrate what’s working well and guides us in making improvements where they’re needed.

Working Bee

We’d love your help at our next Working Bee this Saturday, the 13th of September, from 12pm until 3pm. BBQ will be provided, please register via the link https://forms.gle/bZ54LoRuLvXmePvR9

It’s a great chance to get involved, have some fun, and make a real difference as we work on the OSH Yard and the South West edge of the school. As always, there will be a BBQ for everyone who helps out.

I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break over the holidays. If I don’t see you before then, take care and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school, bright and early on Monday the 6th of October.

Take care,

Shaun
