Year 11 Leadership Development – Lead4impact Program

Last Friday, our Year 11 students participated in the Lead4impact leadership program during periods 3 and 4 in the PAC. This dynamic and highly interactive workshop, facilitated by the experienced team at Crazy Ideas College (CIC), was designed to empower students to lead change in their own lives, schools, and communities.

Throughout the session, students explored the four key areas of leadership: self-awareness, collaboration, leadership tools and practices, and making a positive impact. The activities encouraged teamwork, reflection, and practical problem-solving, equipping students with both confidence and skills they can take forward into their final year of schooling and beyond.

As part of the program, students were also introduced to IBM SkillsBuild, a global online learning platform providing valuable digital and professional learning opportunities. This resource will allow students to continue developing their leadership and employability skills outside the classroom, with access to recognised digital credentials.

The Lead4impact program was a rich and rewarding experience, offering students the opportunity to strengthen their leadership capacity and build a shared understanding of what effective leadership looks like. We are proud of the way our Year 11 cohort engaged with the program and look forward to seeing how they apply their learning in future leadership roles within our school community.

Below are some student reflections on the day:

  • ‘It was an entertaining interactive seminar on leadership and the values and archetypes that form leaders. We learned all about important traits and methods of relating to individuals which make for just and relatable leaders’ - Ben Orpwood – Year 11 Mango

  • ‘Lead for impact helped me reflect on my strengths and values, and inspired me to discover the type of leader I want to be.’ – Chloe Aspinall - Year 11 Mango

We Want to Hear Your Voice! Students - Please complete this quick and easy survey

All students are invited to share their ideas by completing the Regional Student Voice Conference survey. This is your chance to highlight the issues that matter most to young people and have your voice shape real change across schools in the Geelong region.

Your feedback will help guide discussion at the conference, where 22 student leaders from our school will come together with students from across our region to explore these ‘big picture’ issues and present their solutions to a panel.

The RSVC is a unique opportunity for student leaders to collaborate across schools, strengthen connections, and amplify student voice. The survey responses will ensure the discussions truly reflect what students think and care about most.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

Many students have been taking the opportunity to demonstrate their gratitude by completing a teacher/staff appreciation token. These are located at the general office and in the library and students are encouraged to take a moment to thank a teacher/staff member who has made a difference.

Kind regards,
