Year 1 & 2

Around our level

It has been a busy 2 weeks in the Year 1/2 area. We have been preparing for Father’s Day and also our 100-Year Celebrations!

Father’s Day

Last week, we were fortunate to have 4 staff members from Bunnings come to school and assist our students with making a Father’s Day present. They built a tool box with our students, teaching them to use a hammer safely and how to put together their boxes. Later, our students were able to paint their boxes and have them ready in time for Father’s Day.

Last Friday, the Year 2 students celebrated Father’s Day with afternoon tea with dads and special people. We ate party pies, sausage rolls, biscuits, and even had soft drink! After students had given their dads the presents, including a tie that had to be worn, we headed to the STEAM room. Our students shared with their dads all of the different animals in our enclosures. As the weather was so nice, we headed to the oval for a game of soccer, dance performances, and handball competitions. It was certainly a highlight on the Year 2 calendar!

100-Years Celebrations

Our students are busy preparing our classrooms for the big events on Friday and Saturday. Our classrooms are looking great, and we can’t wait to show you all of them soon. We have had so much fun learning about life in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Life was very different then, we can’t imagine life without tv and internet!

Spring

Students have also began to write about the change of season.

By Logan W in 2A: In Spring, AFL finals are here! In Spring, flowers will bloom. The Spring months are September, October and November. It is our 100 year anniversary, Bentlee’s birthday and Halloween. In Spring we have daylight saving. In Spring it is starting to get hotter and hotter.

Celebrating our Students

Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below students' certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
