Prep

Around Our Level

We are getting so excited for our 100-Year Celebrations, and the Preps have been working hard to practise our performance for Friday. We can’t wait to showcase our dance talents, learn more about the different decades, and see all the different classrooms, memorabilia, and classroom projects. The Preps have been learning about 2010-2025 and beyond. We have been busy decorating our classrooms and learning about the Royal Weddings, changes in technology (including the iPhone, iPads, and tablets), the creation of emojis, Remote Learning, the COVID-19 pandemic. We even wrote about how school might be different in 2045. The children constructed robots and futuristic technology. We discussed space travel and beyond. We are looking forward to students and the wider school community visiting our classrooms on both Friday 12th and Saturday 13th of September. We hope to see you all!

The Preps and Year 3/4 students have been busy mulching garden beds, watering the new plants in the school driveway, weeding and tidying up the veggie patch, hanging peace flags, and setting up the new scarecrow in our veggie patch.

We also had Uncle Christian (Christian Petracca), Melbourne AFL Superstar, come and visit the Prep classes this week. He spoke to our students about our school values and how similar they are at the Melbourne Football Club. They also discussed friendship, trying your best, being healthy, and getting plenty of rest and sleep to perform at your best. He signed autographs for the children and had his photo taken with some of our students. A big thank you to Julian Petracca for organising this visit to our school. We feel very fortunate to have been able to meet Christian and to ask him questions about his football career, growing up in Warrandyte, and playing for the Demons.

Don’t forget to purchase your tickets for the 100-Year Celebrations. These can be pre-purchased prior to the event or purchased on the day for sausages, drinks, pony rides, face painting, bake sale items, popcorn, snow cones, and much more. There is also an opportunity to purchase school lapels, a special 100-Year Memory Book, and a commemorative tea towel.

In Literacy, we have been learning about short ‘o’ and ‘u’ sounds in words.

In Maths, we have been learning about sharing objects into equal groups.

In Geography, we have been learning about special places and why they are important to us.

We also look forward to next Friday, which will be our whole school Footy Day. The day will begin with a whole school assembly, including club theme songs, in the gym, and then will be followed by a special Footy Day lunch from the canteen. School will also dismiss at 2.30pm for the holidays. We look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.
